Maroochydore approvals help lock in jobs growth |
A major redevelopment of Maroochy River Resort worth $45 million has been approved by council, contributing construction and resort jobs to the region.
The 32 Hectare master planned community is located south of the existing resort (close to the Waterfront Hotel).
The planning provides for shops, community hall, pools, bbqs, sports fields, a new lake wetland and an extra 460 car parks with the jewel in the crown; a second lake for water activities.
The resort will offer short and long-term, budget priced accommodation close to the airport and CBD Maroochydore.

This week council has also approved the development scheme for the Maroochydore City Centre. The site of the old Horton Park Golf Course will deliver a mix of residential, commercial, retail, civic and community uses, with entertainment, conferencing and recreation also being identified in the master planning process.
The project will span 25 years and add to the enhancement of the existing parkways, pathways and waterways in the area. All eyes are on the project as it is the only Greenfield CBD development in Australia.
The Mayor, Mark Jamieson, stated that the project has the potential to create 1000’s of jobs.

The surrounding areas of the Maroochydore CBD are mostly level with pedestrians and cyclists well catered for. Sections of Alexandra Headland, North Buderim and Kuluin are a 10 minute walk, and within this radius there are still neat properties available from $300,000 for units and $450,000 for houses. These are original 3 bedroom brick dwellings that can be refurbished to modern abodes or chic beach shacks, both of which are showing good returns on capital growth and rental returns.
As with most CBD living, you do have the ‘high density noise’ traffic, alarms, people, holiday makers, sanitation trucks at odd hours etc. So select properties with security, an outlook, secure parking and keep in mind the needs and wants of your end user - you or your tenants.
